How is this different from the Update Status in Connected Board recipe?

The Update Status recipe only syncs status columns. This recipe can write any column type — text, numbers, dates, people — back through a Connect Boards column to the linked item on another board.

Does the connected item need to exist already?

Yes. The items must already be linked via a Connect Boards column. This action writes data to an existing connected item — it does not create new items.

Can I write to multiple columns on the connected board at once?

Each automation maps one source column to one target column. To write multiple columns, set up multiple automations — one per column pair.
