Installation Guide

Get Community Cookbook installed and start using custom automation recipes on your monday.com boards in under two minutes.

Part 1 — Install the App

You only need to do this once. After installation, every recipe in Community Cookbook is available across all your boards.

1

Open the Apps Marketplace

From any screen in monday.com, click the puzzle piece icon in the top-left navigation bar. This opens the monday.com Apps Marketplace.

Tip: You can also reach it from your profile picture → Apps marketplace.
2

Search for “Community Cookbook”

Type “Community Cookbook” into the search bar at the top of the marketplace. Click on the Community Cookbook app card when it appears.

3

Click “Install”

On the app listing page, click the blue Install button. You'll be asked to choose whether to add the app to all workspaces or a specific workspace. We recommend installing it for all workspaces so every team can use the recipes.

Note: Only account admins can install apps. If you're not an admin, clicking Install will send a request to your admin for approval.
4

Review Permissions & Confirm

monday.com will show you the permissions the app needs. Community Cookbook only requires access to read and write board data so the automation recipes can work. Click Install to confirm — and you're done.

Part 2 — Find the Recipes on Your Boards

Once installed, Community Cookbook's custom triggers and actions appear alongside monday.com's built-in automation blocks. Here's how to find them.

1

Go to Any Board

Navigate to the board where you want to set up an automation. The recipes work on any board in your account.

2

Open the Automations Centre

In the top-right corner of your board, click the “Automate” button to open the Board Automations page.

3

Search for Community Cookbook Recipes

Click “Create automation” to open the custom automation builder. When you choose a trigger or action from the dropdown, Community Cookbook's custom blocks appear right alongside monday.com's built-in blocks. Search by name — for example, “formula” or “OR status” — to find them quickly.

Tip: You can also browse pre-built recipe cards on the Automations page — search “Community Cookbook” to filter to just our recipes.
4

Configure & Activate

Click on any recipe card to configure it. Each recipe reads as a clear sentence — click the bold words to set your values (which status, which column, which board, etc.). Once configured, click “Create Automation” and it's live.

Part 3 — Find Automations in the Workflows Section

monday.com also lets you manage automations from the Workflows section in the left-hand navigation. This gives you a centralised view of all automations across your boards.

1

Open the Workflows Section

In the left-hand navigation panel of monday.com, click on “Workflows”. This opens a dedicated area where you can view and manage all your automations across your account.

Tip: If you don't see Workflows in your navigation, click the three-dot menu at the bottom of the nav panel and enable it from there.
2

Browse Your Automations

The Workflows section shows all active automations across your boards. You can filter by board, status, or type to find specific automations. Any Community Cookbook recipes you've set up will appear here alongside your other automations.

3

Add New Automations from Workflows

Click the “+ Add new workflow” button to create a new automation. From here, you can select a board and then search for Community Cookbook recipes just like you would from the board's Automations Centre.

Tip: The Workflows section is great for getting an overview of all your automations in one place — especially useful if you use Community Cookbook recipes across multiple boards.
